Then throw in community support from the local fire department, dancers, college students, CPR instructors, heartcharged friends, and an outstanding crew. Of course, this is amazing! Our 3-year-old nephew was bopping along plus learning about using an AED and CPR. True edutainment.

Honored to be the cover story for CHD Magazine’s Heart Month Celebration issue. I was honored to have my article about body acceptance with a bulging implanted defibrillator published. The forces behind this magazine are brilliant and insightful and experienced in navigating the CHD life.

MY DEFIBRILLATOR JOURNEY IN DANCE
When passions collide - my love of dance and my determination to end preventable deaths in young people, including athletes, from undiagnosed heart conditions.I created this dance as my capstone project for my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance Performance. It tells my story - the dancer with a defibrillator. My partner represents the implanted defibrillator, always by my side, when I did and didn’t want it, ready to jolt me back to life. I dance as myself and as my heart. The dance is dedicated to those who lost loved ones much too soon in ways we are discovering are much too preventable when people know and action is taken.

We asked 42 friends from 26 countries and they sent heartcharged greetings in 22 languages from around the world. A global health crisis needs global awareness. Watch and see our special friend from Nigeria who was determined to send greetings even though he had to film it 5 different times.

Who says students in elementary school can’t or won’t or won’t want to learn about how to Get HeartCharged and learn the steps to take if someone goes into sudden cardiac arrest?
